DougtoneWe have all seen people doing it and many of us have done it ourselves.  Crossing outside of a crosswalk is not the smartest idea.

Jason RojasNow that spring has sprung the Las Vegas roadways will be filling up with more and more motorcycles.  After a long winter riders are anxious to break out their bikes and scooters to enjoy the nice weather.  That also means that more accidents will begin to be reported that involve motorcycles and scooters.  Unfortunately, it appears the trend has already begun this year.

police-carIt’s spring break week in Las Vegas, which often means party time for local teens, college students, and others who may join in the fun. As a result, local law enforcement plan to crack down on underage drinking and anyone found driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the upcoming weekend. According to Fox 5 KVVU-TV, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department has announced special DUI checkpoints and “saturation patrols” covering the east side of Las Vegas Valley on Friday, April 18 between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. These sobriety checkpoints and extra police coverage are designed to identify and arrest locals and tourists in violation of the law in an effort to prevent deadly crashes.

DUI checkpoints are commonly set up on holiday weekends and when special events occur. At such a checkpoint, police officers have the right to pull anyone over and arrest them for suspicion of DUI. When driving through a checkpoint or roadblock, drivers will be stopped, questioned, and most probably have vehicles looked over for signs of drinking and driving. If a police officer believes you are exhibiting any indicators of intoxication, you will find yourself directed to another area where you will be asked to undergo field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test. Depending on the results of these tests, you will either be arrested or permitted to leave.

DUI Checkpoint Guidelines in Las Vegas

In Nevada, sobriety checkpoints are legal but must be conducted according to strict rules. These rules include clear visibility of the roadblock for a distance of not less than 100 yards with stop signs planted in the middle of the road which can be seen at a distance of not less than 50 yards. Flashing red lights must also be located on the side of the road which are visible within 100 yards. You must be notified of the upcoming checkpoint by a warning sign placed no less than a quarter of a mile from where you will be stopped; the sign must be illuminated by lights, flares, or lanterns.

Gerard 1980There are two sides to every story, especially when the law is involved. Often, the only people who know what happened in a given incident are those directly involved, and each of them may see the event in an entirely different way. This is one of many reasons why a good attorney who knows how to get to the truth and tell a client’s story before a judge or jury is so important when criminal charges have been issued.

A fight between three men has resulted in the death of one of them in a Carson City apartment.

According to the sheriff, the person who died passed away at a Reno hospital, where he was taken after the fight. His name and age were not immediately released to the press.

John JedoreMost people who have been driving for a number of years have been involved in at least one accident, so most can understand what a hassle even a minor accident can be. They often involve repair costs and time away from work to fix. A major accident involving injury is even worse. There are medical fees and much more time away from work, both of which can be extremely costly. This is why legal compensation is so important.

At least one person suffered injury in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 95 just past Kyle Canyon Road.

A Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper said the accident between a Toyota 4Runner and a passenger car occurred a bit after 6:30 in the morning. The collision scattered debris across the road, forcing Highway Patrol to close the road for a while.

Caveman "Chuck" CokerIt is a tragic fact of accidents that they can occur at any time to anyone. It’s all the worse when those accidents could have been prevented by someone following simple safety regulations or through common sense. Restitution should always be required from those who cause accidents through willfully disregarding the safety of others.

A busload of low-income high school students, many of whom were hoping to be the first in their families to attend college, suffered a terrible accident. An explosive crash on the way from Los Angeles to a school in Northern California left 10 dead and dozens of others hospitalized.

It is still unknown why a FedEx big rig jumped the median into oncoming traffic and crashed head on into the bus full of students. Both vehicles burst into flame after colliding. Most of the survivors suffered injuries, including some with broken bones or critical burns. Those who got out of the bus did so through a kicked-out window.

Blind NomadJust about any case can be settled, if not won. Guilty or innocent, if a defendant has the right lawyer, chances are much better for a good outcome. The legal system can be very complex and a great many different factors go into determining the outcome of any legal proceeding.  The best course of action is always to find the best representation as soon as possible.

Kelly AngeloLaws passed by legislators usually have reasons, but those who enforce the laws always have to be careful they are enforcing more than just the letter of the law, or people who are undeserving of punishment can be very badly hurt. Even being charged can cause considerable harm to one’s personal life, which is why good legal representation is so important.

A woman in Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested for leaving her children in a car on a hot day during a job interview. She is currently fighting to clear the charges with the help of an ally in New Jersey who has raised more than $90,000 so far to help her legal defense.

The 35-year-old woman was unemployed and receiving assistance from the government when she got the opportunity for a job interview at an insurance company in Scottsdale. She was unable to find a babysitter prior to the interview, and so left her two children, 2 years old and 6 months old, in the car with the keys in the ignition and the windows rolled down an inch.

plongThere is nothing more horrific than danger to our children. Unfortunately, those who act in a reckless and a careless manner are dangerous to everyone, regardless of age. Whether a drunk driver, or someone who speeds past a school zone, or just those who choose to ignore the laws that keep us all safe, these people owe those they injure proper compensation.

A car ran into a daycare in the Orlando, Florida area, killing one child and injuring 14 other people, 12 of them also children, according to authorities.

Alec TabecAccidents have many costs. One of them is the most obvious: physical. Damaged property or injuries are the most visible cost of an accident, requiring repairs or medical attention. Mental and emotional damage occurs as well. Even a minor accident is a traumatic experience that can cost time for recovery. There are also financial costs. Someone has to pay for the medical bills, repair costs, time taken away from work, and any other price to pay in the aftermath of an accident. That someone should never be the victim.
